Opportunities are advertised on the Company's web-site and interested candidates are invited to apply on-line. These positions require specific skill-sets and experience. Other basic attributes that ITC looks for are integrity, intellectual rigour, a "will do" attitude, high energy, creativity, leadership, team skills and the ability to think strategically. An essential focus while inducting talent at the middle and senior management levels, is the new learning that the candidate will bring into ITC.

Legal
 

ITC's Legal function offers legal professionals exciting careers spanning all branches of law. Legal professionals with a keen legal acumen and analytical skills coupled with an understanding of business transactions are exposed to a continuously challenging environment.

Legal managers are encouraged and expected to constantly enhance the breadth and depth of knowledge. They interact closely with ITC's different businesses, understanding issues and providing legal solutions.

Legal professionals join ITC either at the entry level from reputed Law Schools or with experience in the profession or in other business corporations. Some of the areas that legal professionals are involved in, include fiscal statutes such as excise, sales tax, etc., intellectual property law, property laws, consumer protection legislation, tobacco legislation and cyber law.
 


Secretarial
 

ITC's Secretarial function offers exciting careers to professionals who are qualified Company Secretaries. Professionals who join the Secretarial function are members of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Additional qualifications could be in Chartered Accountancy or Law.

Candidates for this Function are expected to have a strong conceptual base in Corporate Law and be well conversant with listing requirements, SEBI Regulations, statutory compliances, investor services, secretarial procedures and corporate governance norms.

In addition, excellent communication skills are a prerequisite. Aspirants for a career in the Secretarial function should demonstrate the drive and commitment to keep abreast of developments in the legislative environment and the willingness to expand bandwidth through contemporary learning.
 


Research & Development
 

ITC inducts R&D professionals for its Group R&D Centre located in Bengaluru as well as for its Agricultural Research Centres at Rajahmundry and Sarapaka.

These three Centres for R&D cater to the needs all the Divisions of ITC. R&D at ITC encompasses Biotechnology, Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Plant Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Paper Making, Packaging Development, Process Engineering, Applied Research Initiatives and Quality Assurance Systems. The challenge for the R&D team is to contribute to ITC's strategy of market leadership through innovation in Product and Process development.

ITC recruits MScs/B.Techs/M.Techs and PhDs in these areas as Research Associates and Scientists. Individuals could be either fresh graduates or have relevant work experience in other organisations. Candidates should have a strong orientation towards application of knowledge and technical expertise, combined with a high degree of self drive, communication and team working skills.


The research team collaborates with relevant Government and non-Government research establishments in the country to derive greater value from its R&D initiatives.
 


Hospitality
 

ITC inducts Management Trainees every year from Hotel Management Institutes, who are then trained at the Welcomgroup Management Institute in Gurgaon.

ITC visits select campuses for the purpose of inducting entry-level talent for its Hotels Business. In addition, talent with experience is recruited for placement in the Food and Beverage Service, Sales and Marketing, Front Office, Housekeeping and Kitchen. Middle-level recruitment takes place primarily from within the Hotel industry.

While inducting talent, ITC specifically looks for knowledge, skills and attitudes required for the Hospitality industry. Other necessary attributes are a high service-orientation, and the ability to anticipate and meet the needs of others.

Lifestyle Retailing
 

ITC inducts talent for its Lifestyle Retailing Business on an ongoing basis.

ITC looks for specialised skills in Fashion Design, Merchandising, Sourcing and Quality Control. Talent for these positions is normally sourced from within the industry.

Opportunities are advertised on the Company's web-site. In addition, this business inducts Customer Facilitators and Store Managers for its Wills Lifestyle Stores across the country.

 


Information Technology
 

ITC's Information Technology business is carried out through its wholly-owned subsidiary, ITC Infotech India Limited ( i3l). i3l follows a rigorous process of hiring, both laterally and through campus recruitment. Entry-level talent is inducted from the top 30 engineering colleges across the country as well as from some of the premier management schools.

Typically, all fresh graduates from Engineering colleges go through a two-phased induction programme.

First, a detailed 8-week orientation of which the first two weeks focus on the Company, its mission and vision, policies and systems, technology, quality methods and processes. This is followed by a 4-week training module on basic mother technology training on the operating systems, data bases, MS and JAVA technologies.

Entry level talent is also put through a 2-week macro orientation on all the technology practices and business units. The induction programme is followed by the allocation of employees to various technologies / business units. Once allocated to a technology / business unit, the employee goes through a detailed induction in the technology and business domain for a period of 8 weeks. At the end of this induction, employees are assigned to project groups under the guidance of an identified mentor.

There are various career opportunities currently available in i3l. Typical requirements are :
Software Developers: Designation at this profile is that of Software Engineer or Sr. Software Engineer. The requirements of the job are to develop and design software code in various technologies, spanning Microsoft, Java, Oracle, IBM Mainframes, Siebel, Windchill and Interwoven.

Project Leaders & Project Managers: The role of the Project Leader is to lead a team of 6 to 8 software developers, provide an estimate of effort, manage resources and deliver a project to the satisfaction of the Project Manager and the customer. The Project Manager has the overall accountability for project deliverables both in terms of cost and effort, apart from managing relationships with the customer.
