ITC Limited has turned teacher to about 10 lakh
farmers in states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and
Uttar Pradesh.
Senior scientists from the National Research
Centre for Soyabean (Indore) and University of Pant Nagar, as well
as post-graduates from other agriculture universities, have been
roped in by the company to supervise and demonstrate best
agricultural practices to farmers.
The programme will cover all stages from
pre-sowing till harvesting under its ‘choupal pradarshan khet’
scheme.
The company is also planning to procure 1 lakh
plots of an acre each under the scheme. The move is expected to
provide a huge boost to the agriculture sector in the country.
