There is a new name in the top five in this year’s ranking of
India’s Most Respected Companies, Tata Consultancy Services, even while a familiar
one, Hindustan Lever, is missing. The 2006 survey has also seen the return of some names
into the top 10 after a long hiatus - Tata Motors and Larsen & Toubro. Other
remarkable comebacks include ICICI Bank and ITC, both back in the top 10 after a tumble in
the last one. And there are some new outfits that are moving up fast and could be
tomorrow’s challengers, Bharti Airtel, ONGC and Nokia.
