The entrepreneurship cell, Indian
Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) in association with ITC Ltd recently, launched its
annual business competition Ideas to Implementation (i2I).
This year the competition would be held over a period of
four months comprising three distinct stages. India Co would be incubating successful
plans, the total value for incubation being Rs 9 lakh. India Co has associated in the
Silicon Valley.
i2I is expecting around 600 entries this year as compared
to more than 400 entries last year.
B N Srivastav, dean (programme initiative) of IIMC, said,
" Participative attitude is strongly encouraged by the institute in both curricular
and co-curricular activities. The institute is committed to supporting student initiatives
in previously unexplored territories. It is one such enthusiastic pursuit by our students
that has now emerged as the entrepreneurship cell or E-Cell."
Srivastav also pointed out that around 30 per cent of
IIMCs alumni were entrepreneurs.
The teams will have to submit their brief business ideas by
September 16. Based on the brief plans, the judges will select the best ideas and the

submit detailed business plans by second week of November. Out of the detailed plans,
eight teams will make it to the finals.
Anand Nayak, executive vice president, corporate human
resources of ITC, said, i2I is an initiative to stimulate the spirit of entrepreneurship
amongst the managers of tomorrow. ITCs association with this event demonstrates our
commitment to entrepreneurship development that we believe will contribute to Indias
