New Delhi, 12 November

ITC Infotech has consolidated its operations in the US and UK through a single entity called ITC Infotech India Ltd (I3L). The company’s US and UK operations were functioning as independent entities.

As part of its expansion plans, I3L – which has a 30-seat development centre in Milton Keynes, UK – recently set up two centres at Kolkata and Bangalore. The development centres are in addition to I3L’s offices across America, Europe and India.

"Our advantage lies in the diverse technical skills available in the company. In the next two quarters, we plan to focus on the untapped APAC region for our customised solutions. Meanwhile, we are strengthening our presence in the US too," a senior company executive said.

According to the company executive, the new 150-people development centre at Bangalore, set up with an investment of Rs 3 crore, will focus on enterprise solutions. The development centre will be operational by the first quarter of 2002.

The Bangalore development centre employs around 300 professionals.

The company also opened its first learning centre named "Epicentre" in Bangalore with an initial investment of around Rs 30 crore.

As part of its growth strategy, I3L plans to focus on those markets and solutions which have not been tapped by other Indian IT companies.

At present, I3L employs around 500 people and plans to increase the number of professionals to 700 by the first quarter of 2002 and to 1,000 by the second quarter of the same year.

The company has also entered into strategic alliances with global IT majors like Sun, i2 Technologies, Computer Associates, Parametric Technologies, IBM-Lotus and Microsoft.

I3L, which achieved a SEI CMM Level V in just 11 months, has clients like Nike, Pharmacia, Abbey National and Unilever, BAT, amongst others.
