ITC Info to quadruple staff strength to 3,000

ITC Infotech, a fully owned subsidiary of the 94-year-old conglomerate ITC Ltd, aims to quadruple its staff size to 3,000 by December 2004 on robust demand from global firms looking to cut costs, company officials.

The company is bullish on its technology businesses – ITC Infotech India (I3L) – which is expected to have revenues of Rs 150 crore. The JV between I3L and BPO major Client Logic, meanwhile, is expected to have revenues of around Rs 48 to 50 crore in its first year of operations.

According to the managing director of I3L, Sanjay Verma, the company’s headcount is expected to grow from around 700 currently to 1,000 in the next three to four months and hit 3,000 by the end of the next calendar year.

This two-year old software services start up focuses on areas such as financial services, consumer goods, manufacturing and retail. I3L initially had its parent contributing around 90 per cent of its revenues, but this year this is expected to be just 15 per cent, with the company adding Abbey National and Sony to its client list. I3L has also bagged a $54-million outsourcing deal from PTC.

ITC has also expanded its technology offerings by entering into the BPO space by setting up a joint venture ClientLogic. This venture, called CLI3L, began operations with around 650 employees in June this year.
