PRIMARY & SECONDARY EDUCATION

20 ITC-supported Balwadis provide learning and recreation for 450 children and prepare them for entering primary schools. 42 Supplementary Learning Centres provide 3 levels of additional teaching focused on mainstreaming children.

There are now over 1,500 children improving their learning skills at these Supplementary Learning Centres

A Roaming Laptop project takes computer literacy to schools rotationally. Mobile Libraries with more than 2,000 books serve over 7 bastis and enable vital away-from-school continuity of learning and imagination.

There are 60 teachers drawn from the community. All centres are run in collaboration with village institutions and on premises provided by them free of cost as their stake holding, essential to making the process sustainable.

The focus of ITC Sunehra Kal educational initiatives,
in collaboration with Pratham, is to make more children join school and
finish school, critically supporting the existing government
primary school network by creating an ambience of encouragement,
assistance and access to learning resources.

This distinctive approach embraces two learning modules, Learning to Read (L2R) and Reading to Learn (R2L) - designed to build ability in reading, writing, numbers, general knowledge and reasoning.

Community and parental involvement in schooling is being developed through Block Catalytic Programmes in Jamalpur and Bariyarpur.

A new ITC initiative, being developed in Munger town is improving the future employability of children who have finished or are finishing school, by providing them coaching for board exams. Training and counselling is preparing 30 students for competitive exams for government and private sector employment.
