Farming accounts for around 70% of water used in the world today. Availability of water for agriculture is one of the major concerns across rural India. ITC is proactively working with the farming community to protect the watersheds by implementing best practices in farming. The main focus here is to produce more crop per drop of water!
ITC's team of agri-scientists have experimented with multiple farming technologies in partnership with research agency and knowledge partners to make effective utilization of water for farming to significantly increase farming output.
Technologies like Tray seedling production, Mulching, Subsoiling and Drip irrigation are being implemented in the farms, which reduce almost 50% to 60% of the water requirement per hectare of crop grown.
