ITC's involvement in rural education aims to improve the quality of life of children. One of its recent projects covers 45 villages in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka where, with the help of project partners, ITC is engaged in making schools attractive to children and their parents in order to maximise enrolment and minimise dropouts. This initiative focuses on improving the quality of Government school infrastructure, teachers' training, incentives to children of the poor and extra-curricular activities. In another recent endeavour, the ITC Education Trust sponsored 100 'Fundaschools' in rural Madhya Pradesh to provide basic education to village children.
