ITC's CDP Ratings

December 28, 2022

ITC's journey as a sustainability champion continues! For the second year in a row, the Company has received Leadership Level 'A-' scores for both Climate Change and Water Security from CDP, a not-for-profit that promotes engagement on environmental issues worldwide. ITC's scores are the highest in India in the Foods, Beverages and Tobacco sector.

ITC's Climate Change rating is higher than the Asia and Global averages of 'B-' and comes at a time when the threats from changing climate are taking on giant proportions. We have been pursuing low-carbon pathways by increasing our renewable energy use, greening logistics, and promoting regenerative agriculture practices, rapidly switching to a net zero economy.

For Water Security too, ITC's rating stands higher than the Asia and Global 'B' average. We use a collaborative water management approach that includes water conservation and harvesting initiatives to move towards water security for all. ITC was the first company in India to commit to getting all of its owned factories and hotels in high-water stress areas certified to the International Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Standard by 2035. After its Kovai paperboard unit received the AWS Platinum certification in 2019, its food factory in Malur, Karnataka has also received the AWS Platinum certification in 2022, becoming the first F&B Unit in Asia to achieve this feat.
