ITC to airfreight 24 Cryogenic Containers to facilitate Oxygen transfer

During the second wave of the pandemic, ramping up the availability of medical oxygen was a critical need. To help enhance medical infrastructure, ITC swiftly initiated the airlifting of 24 cryogenic containers to ease the bottlenecks in transporting oxygen as a CSR initiative. ITC also sourced more than 1,200 concentrators and 22 oxygen generators to help enhance the nation's healthcare infrastructure.

The Company also helped set up 3 temporary medical facilities with 600 beds in record time in West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. In addition, ITC's Paperboards unit in Bhadrachalam produced and supplied medical oxygen to Government hospitals in Telangana.

ITC's initiatives came in response to an acute shortage of medical oxygen across the country, constraining the healthcare system's ability to provide appropriate medical care to COVID-19 patients. Its paper unit in Bhadrachalam, Telangana, also supplied oxygen to select facilities in neighbouring areas.

ITC remains committed to support the Indian government in its fight against the pandemic, and will continue to explore avenues to help address the challenges emerging during these trying times.
